Welcome to the website of the Richards Flock of Pedigree Jacob Sheep. We have bred Jacobs since 2008. All our Jacobs are registered with the Jacob Sheep Society, flock no. 4570. We currently keep only 2 horn jacobs but we are looking to expand our flock and breed 4 horn jacobs in the future. We are located in north Wexford, Ireland. We regularly show our jacobs and won reserve champion with our homebred ram Richard's Ash at the Tinahely show in 2011.
The Jacob sheep is an ancient breed of sheep and are known for their eye catching horns and black and white wool. They are a dual purpose breed, producing tasty meat and naturally coloured wool. Jacobs when crossed with any breed always produce pure black lambs. Jacobs are an exellent breed for small farmers or anyone with an area of grassland that needs grazing. Jacobs are a breed full of character and quickly become very tame. Showing Jacob sheep is a very rewarding hobby and there are shows all over the the country that accomadate Jacob classes.
I recomend anyone intrested in keeping or breeding jacob sheep should become involved with the Jacob Sheep Society. The society is full of friendly people with lots of advice on caring for and showing your sheep. Being registered with the Jacob sheep society means you can register your lambs and you receive 3 issues of the ''Jacob Journal'' every year.
